Total Loss 46.0
In 9 days I lost 2.4 pounds - kinda lame. No cheating. Tracey said I need to start exercising or my loss will keep decreasing. I did get slightly under 200 - 199.2. I went to Aldi's after class and noticed some pickles that said a serving had 0 calories, so I bought them. That's not cheating to me. I'm sure to them it would be.

Woohoo!! Under 200!! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCalorie-pickles aren't cheating to me either. I say go for it and don't feel guilty. I actually questions whether keeping your 200-calorie cheat a day would actually help you lost faster so your not in starvation mode. Exercise would be good too. And easier now that it's nice out!
Thanks for the comment, Jessica!
ReplyDeleteI didn't fully disclose that the serving size of the 0-calorie pickle was 3/4 of a spear, and I ate 3 spears. They were tasty and crunchy, but still not something I'll look forward to like I did that mesquite turkey.
I'm SUPPOSED to be in starvation mode, according to Dr. Miller. That's not dangerous if you're medically supervised and if you don't go in and out of it. Still, you're supposed to be allowed 4 shakes (800 a day) and still stay in ketosis, but all women I've ever heard talk about it only drink 3, which contain 100% of necessary nutrients. Their problem with cheating is that you're likely to lose control and slide down the slippery slope of excessive eating. I'm sure they're right.
Yay Carol!! Maybe you should try a week of 4 shakes/day and just see if you lose more. I am joining you in ketosis by eating low carb until April 5, the last day of Lose Big. I also think the pickles don't count. After a few days of eating them, you probably wouldn't want more than 3/4 of a spear anyway.

Yeah, but we know that the reason they called a serving 3/4 of a spear was so that it could be 0 calories, because they get to round up or down to the nearest 5. Thanks for the posts, Kate and Lynn.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe that you would lose more eating 800 than 600 a day. Well, there's another little fallacy. They talk about the shakes each being 200 calories, but chocolate with fiber and lemon are actually 210, so I usually get 620 a day. Unless by eating more, you get a lot more energy and move around more. I doubt that would be the case with me.
0 + 0 = 5, 0 + 0 = 5
ReplyDeleteSo big deal if you got to 10 pickle calories with those three spears.
The exciting number is <200 lbs!! Yay, Carol!!
If 3/4 spear = 2.4 calories, then 1 spear = 3.2 calories, and 3.2 + 3.2 + 3.2 = 9.6 calories. And 200 calories = 210 calories. And 200 + 9.6 = 209.6, and 209.6 < 210, and 210 = 200, therefore 209.6 < 200 and you can eat your pickles.
