Total loss 54.6
YAY! I lost 6.0 since last week (in 9 days, as this was my monthly dr. appt.; I skipped my Tuesday meeting), or 5.8 since 2 weeks ago. I weigh 190.6. Some portion of the 6.0 is due to lighter shoes and clothing than I was wearing last week. It was my 18th week, so I should have lost 54. I'm quite happy about it. Don't tell anyone, but on my way back to work I had to stop at Walgreen's for a small dose of magnesium the dr. prescribed (250 mg/day) and I got myself a 110-calorie pack of Peeps that was on sale. Some would say I need to find a better way of celebrating, but I think 110 calories (28 grams of carbs) is quite permissible on the rare occasion of having lost 50 pounds. Anyway, last week I got myself a pair of 18 jeans and a pair of 16 jeans at the Lutheran resale for $2 each. 18 fits perfectly - didn't try on the 16. I hope when I get to my goal loss of 80 pounds that I will be in a 14 and stay there. If all goes according to plan, this should occur on June 15.

Very soon after I wrote that post, I realized that 28 grams of carbs (sugar) is NOT a good idea. It's making me feel weird at a time when I should be working. It's not exactly a headache or shakiness, just a weird feeling that makes me want to keep my eyes closed. Well, it's kind of an internal shakiness. Those protein/fat cheats had no such effect. What was I thinking?
ReplyDeleteWhoop! Whoop! Woot!! Go, Carol! Go, Carol! Go, Carol! Yay for the breaking 50! Yay for the size 18 jeans! And triple YAY for being right on shzehwah!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I hope the internal shakiness went away with no further harm. To be honest, Peeps are not a good idea for anyone, ever. Maybe you can retain this negative association and have it work in your favor during the lifelong maintenance phase.
Thanks, Chris, for the whooping!
ReplyDeleteAs for Peeps, they are a delicious Easter treat, now available for all holidays. They are no less good an idea than any of the myriad sugary treats found in all grocery stores, homes, and offices across the US of A and most other countries. 28 grams of carbs just turned out to be too much of a load for me at this particular time. No further harm done.
Another treat I'm looking forward to (which you can find lots of humorous objection to on the internet) is the KFC double-down. Only 540 calories and it'll take care of my complete protein, fat, and sodium requirements for a whole day, once I'm on solid food. Like Peeps, though, the double-down will have to be a rare treat, and I'll have to switch myself to whole wheat bread and eat oatmeal and lots of fruits and vegetables every day.
Go Carol!!! June 15th is right around the corner. Is there a specific food plan they give you to follow for maintenance? Why are you on magnesium?
ReplyDeleteP.S. It took me a long time to figure that shzehwah word out.
