Total loss 72.4

Horrible news - I gained 4.4 in the past 9 days. I skipped my regular weigh-in Tuesday because I was busy at work. Today was my final appointment with the doctor. He was understandably disappointed and tried to impress on me how important it is in the next 5-6 weeks of maintenance to not eat the huge amounts of cookies and candy that I have been eating. I weighed 172.4.

He went over the results of my final labs versus my starting labs. My hemoglobin actually went down a little (11.9 down to 11.3), which only goes to show that I'm probably not going to be able to give blood at my Sept. 11 appointment. He said that was probably just normal for me. My lipids were basically the same - my good cholesterol actually went down from 53 to 43. That's because I'm on cholesterol medicine, so it was artificially good to start with. The one great thing was that my starting gluclose was 139. Normal is 70-105, and if you get 2 in a row over 125, that is a diagnosis of diabetes. It went down to 94.

  1. You went without eating large amounts of cookies and candy for 6 months, and you can do it now too.

Step one: Don't buy or be around large amounts of cookies and candy.

Step two: Because you are serious about preserving your health and agility for the sake of your nieces, sisters, and the many other people who love you.

Step three: Besides, there are many other delicious and more satisfying foods you can eat hefty but reasonable amounts of now.

    Step four: Repeat.

Yay for the good blood levels and for you in general. Do not let this one weight get you down. The sooner you realize that is not the direction you want to go, the sooner you'll start modifying your choices.

    We love you!

  2. Yes, you just need to follow the simple 4-step plan that Chris designed for you! I have had a few too many cookies this week, so I need to use it myself.

I just went through my closet and came up with about 25 shirts and 8 pants to get rid of, so if I gain too much weight I'd need to go buy some new clothes.

Good news on the glucose! You're no where near diabetic now. Are you still on the cholesterol medicine?
