Total Loss 14.0

Well, Tracey weighed me and said I had lost 3.2 pounds, for a total loss of 14.0. Now I see that that doesn't jive with what I was told (or mis-heard) last week. Or mis-heard this week. Guess it doesn't matter that much.

My class was on exercise. (There are only 3 possible topics: exercise, nutrition, or behavior.) What I think I learned: People who diet without exercising lose 75% fat and 25% muscle. One pound of muscle uses 50 calories a day, while one pound of fat uses 2 calories a day.

  1. Go, Carol!! I hope next time they don't tell you some conflicting stats on calories to sustain pounds of fat/muscle.

Perhaps you could write a nice haiku or song using the various food flavors for the next blog entry.

P.S. Your youngest niece went to the dr. today due to an ear ache (diagnosis: ear wax clump) and she weighed in at 56 lbs.

  2. Yay for 3.2 (or whatever the number really was)! You're 17.5% there! It's funny they told you that statistic without saying what percent fat/muscle you lose if you do exercise while losing weight. Did you have to come up with an exercise program?

  3. Hey, Carol, Don't sound so discouraged! Chilld out and develop muscles while on that exercise ball. You're on your way DOWN on the scale, even during the holidays!

  4. I have suspected for a long time that without exercise, weight loss cannot be maintained.

p.s. ANYTHING you post is worth my while. You matter!

  5. I'll start the poetry trend:

My aunt's losing weight in a blink,
    With a 200-calorie drink.
    With a boullion dose,
    They're not nearly as gross.
    She's doing amazing, I think!

P.S. - I remember one time during a game of Apples to Apples, Tabitha lobbied hard for Lena to pick "Ear Wax" for the adjective "Healthy." Lena was convinced. Next time we're in that situation, I think the point will be mine. Or Polly's.
